Persuasive essay writing is different from writing a letter to your girlfriend. Surprisingly, but your persuasive essay should aim on being concise, precise, clear and true. Although the style of the language should not be too simple and plain, you should also avoid using high-flown language in writing, as it makes your essay less clear.

Say exactly what you mean - no less and no more - but please remember that you want to build an easy-to-follow argument that leaves the reader persuaded that you are right.

To write a persuasive essay means to change the reader’s mind. Some essay ideas you can find in letters to the editor, research proposals, reviews and even (don’t smile, keep serious!) in sermons. Basically, good ideas for your topics you can find in any source, arguing a point of view.

Essay writing may mean simply writing down whatever comes into your mind. But please, do not turn your persuasive essay into a meaningless flow of consciousness. Remember that things should come out as they come out in your brain, not as they come out of your mouth when you are asking your girlfriend’s parents for her hand in marriage. Be creative but not overdo it.

Finally, remember that no matter how intelligent the ideas for your persuasive essay topics, an essay lacking a strong introduction, well-organized body paragraphs, and a persuasive conclusion that makes the reader believe in whatever it is you’re trying to say is not an effective persuasive essay.
